The Garden of the Kindergarden
Kindergarten is a child's first step into the wider world and the starting point for shaping their outlook on life. It is where they begin to forge a connection with nature, fostering their spirit and igniting their curiosity and desire to explore through experiences with every blade of grass, flower, and insect. The architecture itself can serve as a foundation for exploration, offering children the freedom to engage with space and immerse themselves in discovery.
Building on these aspirations, we propose several design strategies for the architectural spaces: 1.Natural Courtyard: Create a vibrant natural courtyard where children can learn and play outdoors, experiencing the changing seasons and fostering a love and respect for nature.2.Rooftop Stage: Make full use of rooftop spaces to provide children with outdoor environments at varying heights and dimensions, enriching their spatial experiences. 3.Participatory Spaces: Design adaptable, multifunctional spaces where children can engage in diverse activities such as classes, performances, and creative projects. 4.Flexible Classrooms: Connect educational spaces to the outdoors through transitional "grey spaces," encouraging children to explore beyond the classroom.
In this kindergarten, we envision a place where children not only grow within a natural environment but also actively participate in shaping and reshaping the spaces around them. By offering engaging and exploratory courtyard spaces, we encourage children to enjoy, discover, and, most importantly, take an active role in transforming and creating their environment. The architecture features variously sized window openings on the interior roofs, ensuring no corner of the kindergarten remains dim. This design allows children to play in bright, sunlit spaces, even interact with the dappled light patterns as part of their exploration and joy.

Nature X Frame
The courtyard serves as a dynamic framed scene—a living work of art shaped by nature—and forms the first impression for every child entering the kindergarten. The long wall at the entrance doubles as an art display wall, embodying the campus's commitment to aesthetic education and inspiring every child to engage in creative expression.
Two Courtyards
The spatial organization is seamlessly interconnected through two courtyards, with the design strategy defined by three key axes. Along the horizontal axis, the west side of the site, highlighted by blue zones, houses circulation and administrative spaces, while the more spacious eastern side is dedicated entirely to children's daily activities. This functional arrangement ensures a clear separation between pedestrian and vehicular flows. The two courtyards act as bridges, linking the east and west sides while forming a continuous horizontal visual corridor. The south-north axis at the main entrance establishes the kindergarten's identity, with the entrance opening directly onto a lively, ever-changing courtyard. This space not only reflects the transitions of the seasons but also celebrates the growth of the children. Similarly, the south-north axis of the classroom units connects both the southern and northern courtyards, inviting children to engage with nature and fostering connections among them.

The Garden of Joy
The courtyard on the eastern side of the building, named Garden of Joy, serves as a shared paradise for all the children. Spanning over 1,000 square meters, this expansive space is filled with diverse elements, including greenery, sand dunes, water features, steps, a theater, and slides. Children are encouraged to step out of their classrooms and freely explore this playground, shaping and transforming it into a space they love and cherish.
Flexible Classroom
The kindergarten's classroom units are seamlessly connected to the outdoors through transitional grey spaces, encouraging children to step outside and explore the world beyond. Sliding doors can be fully opened, creating a seamless integration between indoor and outdoor spaces. The gently sloping grass mounds serve as versatile areas where children can play, explore, and even participate in lessons, transforming nature into their classroom.
